Elise’s passion has been horses for almost thirty years. Elise believes a happy horse is your best partner and strongly believes in teaching and training in a fair and consistent manner. Each horse and rider are unique, and she gears her teaching and training through the art of proper Classical Dressage fundamentals to advance both horse and rider. She believes in using the training pyramid made up of the concepts of rhythm, relaxation, connection, impulsion, straightness and collection, working towards harmony between horse and rider and having a relaxed and supple horse. Every moment is a teaching and learning moment.
Elise began riding and extensive competing at an early age in Boulder Colorado. She has been fortunate to ride with many top trainers in her career. Nicole Chastain, Jodi Kelly, Sandy Hotz, Jeremy Steinberg, Sue Halasz, Cheryl Wyllie, Eric Chalamet, John Francois Favier, Julio Mendoza and Juan Matute are trainers who have helped Elise form her own unique perspective.
She prides herself on her ability to work with horses through excellent training to have good minds and a love of learning. She is also proud of the many horses she has helped rehabilitate, either from injury or stress issues to become confident in themselves and their riders and achieve their goals. When rehabbing a horse, she always works closely with veterinarians, farriers and other horse professionals to make sure a horse is physically fit to work through their training.
In her years of experience in training horses, both her own and client’s, Elise has started many green horses through Grand Prix. She has shown nationally and earned her USDF Bronze and Silver Medals. In 2019 she obtained the highest ridden score in North America for the KFPS ridden IBOP and was FHANA Regional champion and North American Grand Champion.
Elise loves working with students and takes the time to truly understand the unique needs of each horse and rider. She loves mentoring and building confidence in riders to develop their skills and effective riding ability. Through the love of the horse, she has helped her students achieve year end rider achievement awards and medals.
Elise always remains open to learning and incorporating the help she receives but also never loses her own personal inner belief in her own instincts and what she feels from her horses.
